Melanie Coffee is an award-winning journalist with more than 12 years of daily journalism experience from working as a reporter and editor at The Associated Press. She has worked in the AP’s bureaus in St. Louis, Kansas City and Chicago, covering social issues, education, business and politics. While in Chicago, she also assigned and edited enterprise stories for 14 states. She has led several editing, writing, media-pitching, and diversity workshops.
She also was the web editor for The Chicago Reporter, an investigative magazine, where she oversaw bloggers’ and reporters’ online stories, slideshows and videos. Coffee also coordinated the social media strategy through various platforms.
She is now a freelance writer and editor, whose work has appeared in The Huffington Post, Crain’s Chicago Business, N’DIGO magazine, Rebellious Magazine for Women, College of American Pathologists and Health & Hospital Networks.
